Advice

Advice comes in three categories:

1/ General advice about, for example, training needs for your organization, or how to approach a particular problem within the workplace.

2/ External Supervision on a contract basis, not specifically about Mental health but to enable small companies or agencies to deal with stress in the workplace both for managers and staff.

3/ It has been my experience over many years that people who work for professional agencies often do not seek help when they are in emotional or stress related states until a further crisis occurs, often followed by long periods off work and sometimes personal breakdown. I do not blame people for this, it is often seen as an expectation of their particular role and part of a culture at work that is hard to break with. What professionals sometimes forget is that they are as human as anyone else and that on some occasions through life we all need someone to talk to in private and in confidence who will take an objective view, which is often enough to help us move forward. I have provided this service to a number of Agencies over many years, the Police, Fire services, military services, NHS staff, Social Workers, Probation staff and Voluntary Agencies. As an example of the effectiveness of this service, one or possibly two advice sessions have often been enough for people to think differently and to access help, if needed from appropriate services but more often than not, deal with this situation through self help.
